Hexham lies on the A69 half way between Newcastle and Carlisle. It is a historic market town and is built around
the Abbey which started as a monastery in AD 674. Hexham is also conveniently close to many other tourist
attractions, for example
- Hadrian's Wall
- Wark, Simonburn and the North Tyne
- Bastle Houses from Border Reiver times.
