Lindisfarne Castle - Holy Island , Northumberland

Lindisfarne tends to be well known for it's religious associations. The presence of early Christianity, the illuminated texts and the production of Mead. Behind all this rests the huge bulk of Lindisfarne Castle. Originally an Elizabethan fort it became an Edwardian holiday home when Sir Edwin lutyans redesigned it for Edward Hudson, the owner of the Country Life magazine.
